A History Making Day!

Ever have one of those days where you pinch yourself and say that you can't believe what is happening? I experienced one of those days last Friday, when our good friends, Frankie the Walk 'n Roll Dog and her human, Barbara Techel, Sparkles and myself, visiting via skype to share fire safety with the children of Clarksville Primary School.

What amazes me about Barbara and Frankie, is that our goals are so parallel. They have been a true blessing and we will be joining forces on occasion to help share each others messages. Doesn't that just give you goosebumps?

On Friday, I was so thankful that Principal Steve Ziegler, Kathy Howell, and all of the children and teachers at Clarksville Primary School once again allowed us the opportunity to visit their school. And, what made this day so very special, is that they got to hear first hand, Frankie's story.

It was truly a day that I will never forget! Thank you Barbara and Frankie for coming into our lives!

New Book Review by Barbara Techel, author of Frankie (the walk 'n roll dog) Book Series

Thank you to Barbara Techel for this wonderful review of the children's fire safety book, Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog.

"This book shines with love and devotion from author, Dayna Hilton and her special dog, Sparkles. Their passion is educating children about fire safety and keeping them and their families safe. With Sparkles as their guide, children will not forget the important lessons Sparkles demonstrates. Especially when Sparkles gets down on the ground and shows the children "how to get low and go." Children will have a lasting memory of Sparkles to carry with them in the event of a fire that will no doubt save their lives. This book is a must have for every child in your household and should be reviewed at least once a year. Dawn is giving away some really exciting goodies to two of her readers, including a special edition copy of my book and audio book, Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog. These limited edition copies will be signed by Firefighter Michael and myself. The books will also be “pawed” by Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog.

These two winners will also receive several life saving products from Sparkles, myself and First Alert, including a combination smoke and carbon monoxide alarm, Tundra™ Fire Extinguishing Spray and escape ladder, worth over $100! All to help keep you and your family safe! Here is my fire safety dog friend, Tango, modeling with all of the loot!

And, cause I am feeling so generous and because I like Dawn's blog and her readers so much, I am also going to throw in a battery operated talking combination smoke alarm and carbon monoxide detector from First Alert, worth over $60! Sparkles the Fire Safety Dog reviews "Poodle and Doodle" by Donna Shepherd

It was both and honor and a privilege to be asked by author Donna Shepherd to review her newest children's book, Poodle and Doodle, published by Guardian Angel Publishing. This with our first review, so Sparkles and I were very excited!

Here's a brief synopsis of the book: "Angel, a twelve-pound prissy poodle, is none too happy when Leah brings home Scruffy, a seventy-five pound clumsy Labradoodle. Why ever would Leah want another pet when she had the perfect dog already? Children will love Donna J. Shepherd's humorous rhymes. Keep a sharp lookout for hidden bones in the delightful illustrations by Jack Foster."

Here's a sneak peek at this delightful book. No bones about it, this book is "pawsitively" wonderful and one of the best children's books that we have read in a long time, paws down!

Be sure to check out our review at Donna's Oodles of Fun blog.

And, it's your lucky day! Sparkles and I are big fans of coloring pages and we wanted to share this fun one (Click on picture of the coloring page, then print! It will print out full size ready to be colored OR right click on picture, and then 'save picture as...' and you can print it out using your photo program). We have already finished coloring ours! Enjoy!
Thanks, Donna. We love your new book and wish you and your four-legged furry friends much success!
